How to Create a Task

From your project workspace (e.g., “Test Circle”), click on Work packages in the left sidebar.
Select All open under the “DEFAULT” section to view current tasks.
You’ll see a message like “No work packages to display” if no tasks are created yet.
Click the green Create + button at the top right.
Select Task from the dropdown.
You’ll be directed to the “Pending TASK” creation form.
Subject – Enter the task name (e.g., “Prepare Onboarding Guide”).
Description – Use the rich-text editor to give detailed instructions or context.
Assignee – Select the user who will carry out the task.
Accountable – Select the person accountable for its completion.
Priority – Choose between Normal, High, or Low.
Circle – Assign the task to a relevant Circle.
Date – Set the task's start date.
Task Category – Tag the task into a category.
Estimated Time – Input the expected time to complete the task (e.g., 3, 1).
Name – Enter your name (NB: Only if you’re logging the task from Mattermost integration). Ignore if logging task directly on openproject
Drag and drop files in the Attachments area or click “Attach files” to upload supporting documents (e.g., specs, images, PDFs).
Once you’ve completed the form, click the green Save button at the bottom.
That’s it! The task will now appear in your task board under “All open” or any relevant view like “Assigned to me” or “Recently created.”
